This course meets all Indiana BMV requirements for Driver’s Ed: 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. Classes are offered year ‘round. During the school year we have classes after school and in the evening. During the summer we have classes morning, afternoon, and evening. We also offer Sundays-only courses. New classes start every 6 weeks or so.
Driving Only
$400
The Indiana BMV also allows the 30 hours of classroom instruction to be taken in an online format. Upon completion of an online course, you would then take the required 6 hourse of behind-the-wheel instruction here with us. At A License To Drive, we accept ANY of the state approved online courses. Visit the BMV website at www.in.gov/BMV for a full list of courses they recognize.
Driving Skills Exam
$25
Students who take either the Complete Course or Driving Only Course here with us may take the driving skills exam with us when it’s time to get their license.

My name is Jodi Newby, and I am the owner of A License To Drive.
We have been in business since 1993, operating in Portage since 2003. I have been a resident of Porter County for almost 30 years, and I am an English teacher at Portage High School.
I care deeply about driver safety, and I care deeply about this community that I call home. I know this is a time that sometimes comes with fears and anxieties, and I want to assure you that my team of experienced instructors and I are eager to teach our students to be safe, confident drivers.
